Levulan Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

Photodynamic skin rejuvenation involves the application of Levulan®, a photosensitizing agent activated by a light source.

What can Levulan treat?
• Pre-cancerous conditions such as Actinic Keratosis
• Moderate to Severe Cystic Acne
• Sebaceous Hyperplasia (overactive oil glands)

Why do I need to use a laser to treat bad acne when I can just use medications?
Levulan is indicated when acne is non-responsive to topical or oral acne therapy. Levulan also does not cause any severe organ damage like Accutane® can.

How long is the treatment and how many are recommended?
Up to 1 hour. A series of 1-3 treatments 2-4 weeks apart.
