The specific wavelength of the laser beam selectively targets the hemoglobin in the blood. Once the blood is destroyed, the veins collapse. The lasers used at Amaze Laser Skin Solutions are able to target both the deoxygenated hemoglobin (blue veins) as well as the oxygenated hemoglobin (red veins). Because of the laser’s wavelength, the target is the blood and not the skin, leaving the skin undamaged.
How many treatments are needed?
Face veins average 3 -5 treatments. Leg veins can vary between 3 to 6 treatments. During the initial consultation, the physician will estimate the minimal number of treatments your veins may require. Occasionally, additional treatments may be required.
What are some side effects?
Because we are using laser which produces heat, there is a small possibility of getting burned, which can cause a blister or scar. Some other possible side effects are 1) bruising, 2) matting, 3) skin hyper-pigmentation, 4) skin hypo-pigmentation, and 5) pain. At Amaze Laser Skin Solutions we take many steps to minimize all complications. Safety is our number one priority.
Which is better, laser or sclerotherapy?
During your free consultation, the physician will inform which procedure will give the best results. The modality of treatment will depend on the size, the type, and the location of the veins. Some people who are adverse to using needles will choose to use the laser option.
